Iron Grid

Fill the NFL player grid with the rarest answers

Fill every intersection with a unique NFL player who satisfies both headers. Every valid pick locks, and less obvious answers earn more rarity.

How to play Iron Grid

Team rule: A player must have appeared in a regular-season or postseason NFL game for that franchise. A player on its pinned current-season active roster also qualifies, even before playing a game for the team.

Choose an empty square, read its row and column rules, and search for an NFL player who meets both. Use each player only once. Correct answers lock permanently. Incorrect guesses add a strike; three strikes end the game, with empty squares scoring zero. Complete all nine squares or choose Give Up to finish.

Intersections can combine NFL franchise histories, divisions, conferences, positions, honors, draft categories, colleges, and career or single-season milestones. Tap a header to see its exact requirement. A player may satisfy career conditions in different seasons. Franchise answers follow the current franchise lineage through relocations and renames.

For example, a Patriots × Buccaneers square asks for a player who qualifies for both franchises. A team × position square asks for a player with the right career connections. Read both definitions before locking in your answer, because a valid pick cannot be replaced.

Rarity scoring and finding uncommon players

Each correct answer earns 1 to 100 points, while empty cells earn zero. Rarer answers earn more points, and your final score averages all nine cells. Daily rarity may change throughout the day as more people play.

A famous player can satisfy an intersection while earning fewer points than a less recognizable teammate. Nine answers worth 80.0 each give you an 80.0 final score; eight answers worth 90.0 and one blank also average 80.0. Completing the board matters as much as finding one especially rare answer.

Think beyond star players: veteran backups, players traded between franchises, and specialists can unlock less obvious connections. Check the header definition before submitting. After finishing, Show Answers reveals five of the rarest valid players for each square.
