The Cleveland Browns’ primary logo is an orange football helmet with a white facemask. The white facemask returned in 2024, replacing the brown facemask used in the preceding version. The plain orange helmet shell is a defining part of the Browns’ identity.

Brownie the Elf dates to the franchise’s earliest years. The vintage illustration gives Cleveland a character emblem alongside its familiar orange helmet. Brownie remains part of the team’s historical branding, while the helmet serves as the primary logo.
Why do the Browns have a helmet, elf and dog logo?
These marks have different roles. The helmet is the primary logo, Brownie is a historical character, and the Dawg imagery represents the team’s dog-themed fan identity.
When did the Cleveland Browns start playing?
Cleveland began play in 1946 in the All-America Football Conference and joined the NFL in 1950. The Browns suspended operations after the 1995 season and returned in 1999, retaining their name, colors and history. Their orange helmet remains the clearest visual link across those eras.
