The old Seahawks logo has a rounder eye, a different beak and broad blue-and-green sections. The current head stretches into a sharper profile with a more angular eye. Comparing the original 1976–2001 mark with today’s version shows the drawing changes as well as the shift in palette.

What bird is the Seahawks logo?

The logo depicts a stylized bird of prey with a hooked beak. The original design drew on Northwest Coast Indigenous art. The hooked beak and strong eye remain the main identifying features across the old and current versions.

When did the Seattle Seahawks start playing?

Seattle began NFL play in 1976 as an expansion franchise. The original logo spans the team’s first decades, including its initial NFC season and long AFC period. The Seahawks moved back to the NFC in 2002, the same year the bird received its major drawing update.
